• eat leaves to get fat.
• fly like a butterfly.

From Chrysalis to Butterfly

The butterfly hatched out of our chrysalis. It is our first butterfly because our other chrysalis didn't hatch. It hatched while we were at swimming. Whaea Robyn put the swan plant outside so the butterfly could fly away safely. It will go and lay some more eggs to make some more caterpillars. This is called metamorphosis.

Monarch Butterfly Life Cycle

Today we drew Monarch butterfly life-cycles.  We are learning about metamorphisis - how something can change into something else. We are still waiting for a butterfly to hatch out in Room 2.

Sunflowers

This week we have been focusing on how to draw sunflowers. These are the ones we drew in Kidpix.

Room 2's Vegetable Garden

We went for a walk to the kitchen garden.  We saw lots of vegetables - onions, pumpkins, silverbeet, tomatoes and lettuce. We saw marigolds too - they help to keep the bugs away.We need to pull the weeds out of our garden. We would like to make a scarecrow for our garden to scare the birds away so they don't eat our tomatoes. How can we make a scarecrow?

Caterpillars

We have two caterpillars and one chrysalis in Room 2. 

We are waiting for a butterfly - a monarch butterfly!

There is a special word for when something changes from one thing into another - do you know what it is?

Our Class Treaty

We have a class treaty just like the Treaty of Waitangi.
Today we all signed our class treaty.
The treaty will help us to learn by making Room 2 a safe and happy classroom.
