Latest doings in Room 5

It's been a varied few weeks at school. ...

Here are some pics of what we have been up to.

Theatre Performance

We had a wonderful taste of theatre through a visit from the New Zealand Playhouse who came and performed Rumplestiltskin.

Museum Trip

We went to the museum to learn about early migration of Maori across the Pacific.

Looking at the carvings in the museum.

Illustrating our experience

Our finished Poe.

Te Winika when she was on the Waikato River

Te Winika waka taua.

A model waka like the ones that travelled far across the Pacific to get to Aotearoa

We went there and back on the bus

Clay

We made pots and small strange creatures.

Adopt a Tree

With Tane Mahuta Day coming up, what better tree to celebrate than our iconic Redwood tree.

No-one knows exactly how old it is, but we suspect it is well over a hundred years old. It may have been planted when the school first began in the 1880s.

We went out and sketched it, and tried to encircle the trunk with our arms (not an easy task!)
