Our Pepeha

We are learning to introduce ourselves in Te Reo Māori.

This is a simple Pepeha structure and you will hear many different ways of performing this formal greeting during Mihimihi. We encourage students to use their own family/whānau Pepeha to support their learning.

Tēnā koutou  (greetings)


Ko   Waikato te awa.
Waikato river
Ko   Hamutana Rāwhiti te Kura.

Ko   Pippa te Tumuaki.

Ko   ________________ taku Kaiako.
       (Your teacher’s name)
Ko _________________ taku Pāpā. (my father)
Ko _________________ taku Māmā. (my mother)
Ko ________________ ahau. (my name is)
